]]>The fantastic news is that His Majesty King Rama X has graciously bestowed the new and magnificent Royal Trophy to the champions of all the 6 categories, i.e. Pro Ski, Pro Sport, Pro R/A 1100, Pro R/A, Pro Freestyle and Endurance.
As a custom of this grand tournament, the names of the champions will be engraved on the trophy of all the categories (Pro, Expert, Amateur & Junior) so that the history will remember them forever.
You will experience great fun and extreme excitement if you have an opportunity to witness this unique racing at the race site and feel the colorful atmosphere. Just imagine that all the racers have to sprint as fast as they can on the ever-changing water with unpredictable waves to fight to be No.1 among the 18 racers in one race. They have to beat each other on their high-horse powered craft that can escape the strong gravity more than 20 turns per round. Yes! This is the difficult test to the combination of good supporting team, engine, strong muscles, tolerance and quick body and brain communication in a split second. Surely, these racers have to be “braver than brave” because this is the ultimate racing game on the water which the racers riding with no craft body cover.

]]>Tom Yum Goong Set
Tom yum Goong is a type of hot and sour Thai soup, usually cooked with shrimp (prawn). Tom yum has its origin in Thailand. The words “tom yum” are derived from two Thai words. Tom refers to the boiling process, while yum refers to a Thai spicy and sour salad. Tom yum is characterized by its distinct hot and sour flavors, with fragrant spices and herbs generously used in the broth. The soup is also made with fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, lime juice, fish sauce, and crushed red chili peppers. We serve our Tom Yum Set with Shrimps together with an omelet.
We serve these two dishes exclusively only @ 18 Coins Cafe & Hostel
Our Restaurant is open every day from 7 AM – 8 PM

]]>The post Thepprasit Night Market appeared first on 18 Coins Hostel | Cafe | Pattaya | Backpacker | Destination.
]]>Also known as “Pattaya Weekend Market” and “Kankheha Thepprasit Market”, the principal attraction for many of the locals is the colourful array of street food. Set out in the shelter of the metal roofs of the market’s largest permanent structures, the two rows of vendors sell all manner of Thai delights, from fresh fruit, juices and seafood to noodles, nibbles and desserts. There are some tables and seats in amongst the sellers and stalls, but finding an empty space can be quite a challenge!
The only other permanent buildings at the market are in the form of a row of shops down one side of the large lot which holds the majority of the stores. Essentially just garages, with their wares set out like any of the other stands, their cooling fans offer some respite on a warm evening while their goods and prices are no more or less remarkable than the rest of the market.
Thepprasit Road Night Market is indeed remarkable. You can find anything from dubious watches to dodgy electronics, from combat knives (which are illegal, so we strongly advise against making a purchase) to make-up, from pirate DVDs to car parts and from pets to mobile phone cases. A large amount of the stalls sell clothing, with everything from wigs to shoes and from knock-off football shirts to an almost limitless supply of copied designer items. There is also an extensive array of trinkets and souvenirs. The prices for all of the above are often amazingly good and can sometimes be made even better with a bit of haggling.
As with practically any Thai market, you are very likely to get exactly what you paid for. If you find a Rolex watch for a fistful of baht, the chances are that it is not genuine and you will probably be lucky if it lasts the trip home before it stops ticking. However, shrewd shoppers can still find some excellent bargains, particularly if you are jovial and friendly with the stallholder (and try to speak a little Thai to get in their good books). Aggressive haggling techniques rarely yield results.
With such an expansive range of shirts, dresses, jeans, shorts, skirts, shoes, sunglasses, hats, t-shirts, tops and even underwear, it is almost worth packing lightly when you travel to Thailand and just spending a few thousand baht on a whole new summer wardrobe from Thepprasit Road Night Market! It would certainly be a fun and lively experience.
Thepprasit Road Night Market
Opening Hours: Fri – Sun 17:00 – 23:00
Location: Thepprasit Road, Jomtien

]]>The post Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya appeared first on 18 Coins Hostel | Cafe | Pattaya | Backpacker | Destination.
]]>The Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya – also known as ‘Teddy Island’ – is a truly unique, slightly baffling and extremely fun family-friendly experience. Housed in the impossible-to-miss teddy bear-themed building at the northern end of Beach Road, it houses about 1,000 stuffed animals in the most unexpected journey through history and fantasy ever.
Particularly popular with Asian visitors and an unshakable part of the tour bus itinerary, every exhibit can be at least touched and, in many cases, interacted with. The route through the museum is surprisingly long, so guests should save at least two to three hours to really enjoy every section, stopping to take cute pictures with the bears whenever you fancy.
Opened in October 2013, the narrative of the linear exhibition passes through 12 zones:
1. The Inca Zone shows teddy bears climbing up the distinctive stepped pyramids of the ancient Central American civilisation.
2. The Dinosaur Zone features the slightly unnerving spectacle of a two-metre tall Tyrannosaurus Rex being cuddled by stuffed bears.
3. The Fossil Zone jumps back to the present day and shows the descendants of the dino-cuddlers excavating the relics of the past.
4. The Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya’s Africa Zone features tribal hunts-bears wielding spears, which is about as incongruous an action as you can ever imagine a teddy bear performing.
5. The Thailand Zone shows some of the nation’s ancient culture and architecture, with the principal actors all in bear form.
6. The Under-the-Sea Zone sees bears in scuba gear – which comes close to beating the spear-wielding bears for weirdness – and features a pair of giant mer-bears.
7. The Eskimo Zone’s most noticeable feature is the collection of air conditioners set to their lowest setting, but the polar teddies are cozy and warm in their winter jackets.
8. Santa Town Zone at the Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya seamlessly carries on the snowy theme from the Eskimo Zone, but with dozens of Santa’s little helpers perched on practically any horizontal surface.
9. The Space Zone seems to take its cue from a combination of Stargate and Star Wars and includes Jedi teddies.
10. The Fairytale Zone is where the interactivity level of the museum – which is already pretty high – goes into overdrive, with a small collection of slides for the young kids.
11. China Zone features the biggest bear in the museum – a three-meter-long giant panda which purportedly took four people to lift into position.
12. The Europe Zone finishes the whole experience off with big bears in traditional dress amongst the continent’s many famous landmarks.
When asked ‘why teddy bears’ at the grand opening, the Korean CEO Hyun Chul Kim told reporters: “I really like teddy bears.” Wanting to share that love with an audience, he opened the Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya, the first of its kind in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Tickets are priced at 500 baht for adults and 300 baht for children, offering an unparalleled experience which children will adore and adults will find extremely amusing.

]]>The post Pattaya Walking Street appeared first on 18 Coins Hostel | Cafe | Pattaya | Backpacker | Destination.
]]>The remarkable thing about Pattaya Walking Street is that there is so much to see and do, and it is so densely packed that you could spend every night for a whole week there and, aside from having the mother of all hangovers, you would still be finding new places each and every evening. We have endeavored to survey the main points of interest and even here we are just scratching the surface of the hundreds of venues in and around the neon-drenched strip.
Where is Pattaya Walking Street?
Walking Street is effectively a part of Pattaya Beach Road. While the main tarmac-topped route turns to the left to become South Pattaya Road (Pattaya Tai), vehicles can continue into the brick-paved Walking Street any time between about 02:00 and 18:00. At the end of the one-way road, you will find Bali Hai Pier and the famous Pattaya City sign, as well as the southernmost end of Pattaya Third Road, which will take you back into the city.
There is more to the nightlife attractions of the area than just Pattaya Walking Street, however. Most of the small side sois which split off from the inland side of the street lead all the way to Pattaya Second Road, making this whole southern end of the city almost exclusively comprised of nightlife venues and related businesses.
Walking Street has concentrations of different sorts of venues as you make your way along it. Starting from the Beach Road end, you will find first mostly restaurants, then go-go bars and beer bars, then nightclubs and live music bars. At about the halfway point is the famous Walking Street Tree (there’s only the one), around which you will find mostly ladyboy bars and clubs. Continuing towards Bali Hai Pier, you will see more tailors and gem shops.
Parking for motorbikes is available close to Pattaya Walking Street in Soi 16 and at Bali Hai Plaza and costs about 20 baht. However, driving home after a night of partying is not at all recommended. You would be much safer using the plentiful supply of motorbike taxis and songthaews available.
